RTT 260Hemodynamics and Rhythms3

This course w i l l introduce the student to the fol lowing: Theory and appl ication of car­ d i ac o u t p u t measurement. Arte r i a l l i n e i nsertion tec h n i q ues, care, and h a z a rds. Hemodynamic studies to include: insertion, care, and hazards of flow d i rected balloon tipped catheter and the central venous pressure catheter. Pressure monitoring w i l l discuss central venous pressures, right arterial pressures, right ventricular pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and pu lmonary occluding pressures. Study will also introduce the stu­ dent to equ i pment associated with hemodynam ic monitoring such as: transd ucers and monitoring devices. Waveform interpretation with c l i nical application w i l l be discussed. Fundamentals of electrocardiography w i l l be introduced to include: lead appl ication, pharmacology for the cardiovascu lar problems, and trac ing interpretation. Studies in fluid and electrolyte balance as it related to respiratory care w i l l also be d i scussed. 3 hours lecture
