Dance: Social Justice will provide interdisciplinary creative scholarship for dance minors and all interested students. As a dance minor elective, the course will fulfill the need for an additional 2000-level course offering. As a Gen Ed Diversity course (pending approval), the course will examine dance as a form of cultural politics and activism toward social justice through the body. DANC 2800Special Topic in Dance3

Offered periodically within a three-year academic cycle Special Topic in Dance is an in-depth study of one dance form for a full semester with a visiting guest artist from the Boston area. the special topic will provide a unique opportunity on campus to study a global or specialized dance form that augments other course offerings within the Dance Program such as Bharatanatyam classical Indian, Cambodian classical dance, hip hop, tap or heels dance. This course is appropriate for all levels of dance experience, will emphasize the foundations of the dance form, and utilize repetition to build upon movement sequences each week leading to longer choreographic exemplars of the form. Information on the specific special topic will be articulated to students and their advisors during course selection and registration. This course may be repeated for credit. This course meets the Curry Core Arts Breadth requirement.
