meets the Peace Core Global Citizenship requirement This interdisciplinary course aims to enhance students’ understanding of Latin America through an investigation of its history, art and culture. The legacies of colonization and imperialism will be explored in conjunction with the racial concepts of mestizaje, indigenism and afro-latinidad. This course favors a multi-disciplinary approach, and will feature an array of materials including journals, essays, poetry, short fiction, visual arts and film. All selections will be taught in translation; original, Spanish-language materials will also be available.
