A course designed to examine the historical and philosophical foundations of early childhood education and developmental milestones, principles and theories, and multiple influences on development and learning for children from birth to age nine. A course to prepare PK-4 certification candidates to develop, implement, assess, and modify curriculum and lessons in the main themes of social studies for Early Childhood and Elementary grades as identified by the National Council for the Social Studies and Pennsylvania’s academic standards.
