ECO 102Principles of Microeconomics (SS)3

Do you ever wonder how companies set prices for the goods and services that you enjoy and use? That question is one of the many areas that are addressed under the term microeconomics. This course reviews how companies choose to enter markets and compete under capitalism for customers, and what good and services they are willing to provide, as well as how customers make rational (and occasionally emotional) purchasing decisions—in other words, supply and demand. It also reviews different types of market structures such as monopolies, monopolistic competition, oligopolies, and pure markets. It also reviews the environmental impact of externalities such as pollution costs passed to local communities, and incentives and risks of innovation.
