NET 100Computer Networking3
This course will introduce students to basic networking concepts and terminology of networking computing, including LANs and WANs. An introduction to data communications will also be addressed. Students will gain an understanding of hardware, software, cabling, and topologies common in networking.
This course provides basic background and hands-on experience installing, building, upgrading, repairing, configuring, troubleshooting, optimizing, diagnosing, and performing preventive maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems. This course is the first in a series of two that prepare students for CompTIA’s A+ and TestOut’s PC Pro certifications.
This course will provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform Windows server pre- and post-installation, along with the skills necessary to perform day-to-day maintenance on a Windows server. At the completion of the course, the student should be able to create and administer user and group accounts, troubleshoot login problems, set up and administer permissions for files and folders, set up and administer printers and administer the Windows server and workstation OS in real world situations. This course prepares the student for Microsoft’s Windows Server and TestOut’s ServerPro certification exams.
NET 160Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices I3
This course introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and Local Area Networks (LANs). The principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are also presented. By the end of the course, students will be able to build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes. They will also be able to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches and resolve common issues with RIPv1, RIPv2, single-area and multi-area OSPF, virtual LANs, and inter-VLAN routing in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
This course introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and other computer networks. The principles and structure of IP Addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are introduced to provide a foundation for the curriculum. By the end of the course, students will be able to build simple LAN’s, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes.
This course focuses on switching technologies and router operaitons that support small-to-medium business networks, including wireless local area networks (WLAN) and security concepts. Students will perform basic network configuration and troubleshooting, indentify and mitigate LAN security threats, and configure and secure a basic WLAN.
This course provides basic background and hands-on experience installing, building, upgrading, repairing, configuring, troubleshooting, optimizing, diagnosing, and performing preventive maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems. This course is the first in a series of two that prepares students for CompTIA’s A+ and TestOut’s PC Pro certifications.
This course provides a comprehensive view of the various types of attacks that are launched against networks and computer systems. It examines network and computer security defense mechanisms, and teaches techniques for preventing and countering attacks. After completion of the course, the student will be prepared to sit for TestOut’s Security Pro and CompTIA’s Security+ certification exams.
NET 260Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices II3
This course describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a larger and more complex network. Students learn how to configure routers and switches for advanced functionality. By the end of this course, students will be able to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches and resolve common issues with OSPF, EIGRP, STP, and VTP in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Students will also develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement DHCP and DNS operations in a network. This course also discusses the WAN technologies and network services required by converged applications in a complex network. The course enables students to understand the selection criteria of network devices and WAN technologies to meet network requirements. Students learn how to configure and troubleshoot network devices and resolve common issues with data link protocols. Students will also develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement IPSec and virtual private network (VPN) operations in a complex network.
This course presents the architecture, components, operations, and security for large, complex networks, including wide area network (WAN) technologies. The course emphasizes network security concepts and introduces network virtualization and automation. Students learn how to configure, troubleshoot, and secure enterprise network devices and understand how application programming interfaces (API) and configuration managment tools enable network automation.
