This course provides the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform a comprehensive health assessment utilizing history taking, inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation. Theoretical and laboratory experiences will provide students the abilities to implement assessment strategies, as well as expected assessment findings, frequently seen variations from expected assessments, and how cultural differences can impact assessment and findings.

This course explores the concepts of the well child, care of the childbearing family, adults and children with acute alterations in health and/or complex psychosocial needs. The theory includes applying the nursing process in specialized healthcare settings. There is an emphasis on therapeutic communication skills and critical thinking skills. Guided clinical experience affords opportunities to provide developmentally appropriate nursing care.
Concepts of Community Health Nursing with an emphasis on health promotion and evidence-based practices will be discussed in this course. The course will explore health care economics, informatics, policy, and leadership. Students will use an epidemiological approach to assess community health and identify determinates of health within a community which may place individuals at risk for disease, disability, and premature death.

This course addresses rapidly changing alterations in health status while preparing the student for role transition to the graduate nurse. The content and practice are based on knowledge and skills acquired in all previous nursing courses. Concepts, trends and professional practice issues affecting healthcare delivery are analyzed. Clinical experiences allow for integration of theory and skills in the organization of care for multiple clients. Selected acute care and community health settings are utilized.
This course is a review of concepts required for licensure examination and entry into practice of professional nursing. The course includes application of the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) test plan, assessment of knowledge deficits, and remediation. This analysis will allow the student to identify and address trended knowledge gaps, learning strategies, and learning resources to improve knowledge in preparation for practice. Synthesis of concepts learned in the curriculum will result in a personal study plan to prepare for success on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN exam).

The course content applies practices of prior knowledge and skills learned throughout the nursing curriculum. Nursing roles and care decisions will be applied to rapidly changing situations requiring swift nursing actions, clinical judgment, effective communication, and nursing skills while maintaining a professional and caring atmosphere for clients throughout the lifespan.
