6.00 credits (6.00 lec) This course will involve you in the assembly of construction drawings for two commercial/institutional projects. Exploration of the theory and application of various building materials, systems, and drawing conventions is emphasized.
2.00 credits (2.00 lec) The course focuses on the technology needed to assemble institutional projects. A variety of light-frame commercial systems will be examined, including steel framing, exterior finishing systems, interior walls and ceilings, and details. The course will analyze the assembly of projects assigned in ARCH 1200.
2.00 credits (2.00 lec) This course focuses on introducing Revit Architecture and Building Information Modeling (BIM). The beginning of the course will focus on the Revit user interface and the core commands. The last half of class will focus on the modeling and documentation capability within Revit Architecture.
(3.00 lec) This course provides a basic understanding of the structural design for beams, columns, and joists in wood, steel, and concrete. It emphasizes the nature of frame structures and is intended to provide an architectural technician with the knowledge necessary to work with a structural engineer. of MATH 0060.
(3.00 lec) This course provides an overview of the selection criteria and the design process for heating, ventilating and air conditioning, electrical systems, water supply and sanitation, lighting, lighting, and elevator systems. The interrelationship of architecture and the engineering functions is explored. of MATH 0060. 330
(2.00 lec) The course presents the contracts and documents that are used in the architectural profession. You will examine American Institute of Architects (AIA) documents ranging from change orders to the AIA general conditions. The course will review the importance of conducting an architectural practice in a businesslike way. of MATH 0060.
(3.00 lec) You will review the history of architecture through the evolution of styles from ancient Egyptian through postmodern. The class will analyze the architectural styles of civilizations from 2300 BC to the 20th century and study major buildings from the Parthenon to the Pantheon. of MATH 0060.
6.00 credits (6.00 lab) This course covers the assembly of a commercial construction drawing package for a building that is approximately 25,000 square feet. You will develop a CAD working drawing set (from a design development package) that will include structural framing, plans, elevations and detailed section drawings. 2013–2014 Catalog | Minneapolis Community & Technical College
2.00 credits (2.00 lec) This course is an advanced exploration into the technology required to assemble a two-story commercial building. The course will study detailed assembly of conditions ranging from hydraulic elevators to building flashing. The lab project assembly of a commercial building (ARCH 2000) will be used as a model to research construction conditions.
(2.00 lec) This course assumes you are proficient with AutoCAD. The course focuses on introducing Revit Architecture and Building Information Modeling (BIM). This course also seeks to develop your understanding of Computer- Aided Design (CAD) and the application of CAD through multiple applications. The beginning of the course will focus on the Revit user interface and the core commands. The last half of class will focus on the modeling and documentation capability within Revit Architecture.
6.00 credits (6.00 lab) This course assumes you have completed ARCH 1000 and ARCH 1200 in the Architectural Technology program and have a working knowledge of construction details. You will be provided with a site and building program at the beginning of the semester. You will develop a design for the building based on the criteria provided and develop a set of construction documents for the building design.
