Admissions

Academic Records : Complete, official academic records, English translation. Records should include courses taken, grades received, and degrees and certificates earned. An explanation of the coding system used to evaluate the student’s work should accompany the records. International students who have attended a college or university outside the United States must provide official translated transcripts. In order to verify the validity of academic transcripts and credentials earned outside the United States and to assign appropriate transfer credits consistently, all international transcripts must be submitted with a report from one of our Academic Evaluation partners - World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE). Obtaining this report is the responsibility of the student for whom the record is requested, and the student assumes the cost of any WES and/or ECE evaluation. Transcripts and credentials submitted without a WES and/or ECE evaluation report cannot be evaluated by the Registrar or counted for transfer credit to North Carolina Wesleyan University.

Graduate Admissions and Academic Policies

Incomplete . A grade of Incomplete (INC) indicates that completing some of the courses work has been deferred. The grade of INC is assigned at the discretion of the instructor when a student who is otherwise passing has not, due to circumstances beyond his/her control, completed all the work in the course. The grade of INC should not be recorded for a student who has not completed the major portion of the work of the course. An INC should not be given if the faculty member is uncertain that the student attended the course; in that case, the grade of F should be assigned. An Incomplete INC) grade must be replaced with a letter grade within eight weeks following the end of the term. If the INC grade is not replaced by the instructor in the required time, a grade of Fwill be recorded. No student may register for an Independent Study or an Unscheduled Course with a grade of INC on their record. The Provost/Sr. Vice President of Academic Affairs must approve extensions beyond the eight-week window. Extensions must be submitted in writing to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs by the instructor.

Loans

Students must complete the FAFSA to be considered for a Direct Loan. Students will be notified through their school portal and/or student email of the Direct Student Loan offer along with other federal financial aid offers extended after eligibility has been determined. First-time borrowers must complete an entrance counseling session and sign a promissory note online at www.studentaid.gov. The student is the borrower, and repayment generally begins six months after the student graduates or drops below half-time enrollment status. Per federal regulations, a student must be enrolled for at least half-time (6 hours) at the time of disbursement. Student loans are offered with the assumption the student will be enrolled full-time. If you are enrolled less than full-time, your loan amounts may be reduced, canceled, or moved to an unsubsidized loan to correct a subsidized loan over-award. Students who have financial needs may receive a Subsidized Direct Loan, which will not accrue interest while the student is in school at least half-time. Students who do not have financial need may receive an Unsubsidized Direct Loan, which will accrue interest while the student is in school. Freshmen may borrow up to $3,500 per academic year, and sophomores may borrow up to $4,500 per academic year. Loan funds are disbursed approximately 30 days after each term begins for first-time borrowers and 14 days for repeat borrowers. Students may qualify for additional unsubsidized funds and must inquire in the Financial Aid Office about eligibility.

Moberly Area Community College80

Advanced Placement (AP): Moberly Area Community College will accept Advanced Placement (AP) Credit based on a review and evaluation by the Dean of Arts and Sciences of the student's score on Advanced Placement course examinations. The Advanced Placement Examinations are prepared by the Educational Testing Service of the College Board Programs. These examinations are administered after the AP course is offered in the upper level of high school. Courses are offered across a broad range of subject matter and are a full year of work at the college level. The AP Examinations "provide an uncommonly rigorous assessment of learning and are internationally recognized as assessment paradigms." College credit will be awarded for approved courses based on the indicated AP Examination score. A list of approved courses can be found on the MACC website or may be obtained from the Office of Student Affairs. College credit for additional AP examinations will be evaluated by the Dean of Arts and Sciences and recommended to the President's Council for approval.
