40 courses with the subject ENVE, each shown exactly as we captured it from the college's catalog, with every element we hold. Where the wording looks broken, that is our reading of the catalog, not the college's text.
Seminar series featuring talks by engineering professionals working in industry, consulting, research, or government as well as presentations by upperclassman and SFU faculty. Subject matter is primarily technical but with occasional discussion of time management, study habits, ethics, and professional development. Fall.

Introduction to probability and statistics in the context of environmental problems and engineering solutions. The course will cover probability, statistics, plotting data, smoothing data, distributions, percentile estimation, accuracy/bias/precision of measurements, limits of detection, experimental design, and parametric and nonparametric statistical testing. All material covered will be reinforced with homework and project work using real environmental data from ENVE 321
ENVE 221Environmental Measurements in the Field and Laboratory4
Field sampling techniques (e.g., saprolite sampling with hand auger, operation of surface hydrology instrumentation), laboratory analyses, experimental design, and statistical data analysis. To include a significant engineering design or analysis project. Three lecture hours plus one four-hour laboratory period. Fall, every other year.

Subject matter is primarily technical but with occasional discussion of time management, study habits, ethics, and professional development. Students will assemble an engineering portfolio including a statement of purpose, resume, sample cover letter, and examples of engineering design work completed during their course of study. Students will practice for the FE exam. Spring.
Principles of geology and soil science applied to engineering systems. Topics include mineralogy, geochemistry, structural geology, geophysics, geotechnical engineering, and the biogeochemistry of soils. Includes an open-ended design project. Three lecture-recitation periods.
ENVE 423Appropriate Technologies for Humanitarian and Environmental Service3
An overview of the appropriate technologies applied for acute (disaster response) and chronic (deforestation, inadequate sanitation, unsafe drinking water, etc.) issues in the developing world. To include a holistic group design project in conjunction with HIST 423 that applies aspects of history, engineering, sociology, political science, economics and ethics to address a real problem in a region in need. Two or three lecture-recitation periods plus one flexible project work period. Requisite: Senior or Junior standing.
ENVE 314 - Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering: Chemistry, Fate, and Transport Processes OR both ENVE 311 - Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering I: Aquatic and Atmospheric Chemistry and ENVE 312 - Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering II: Transport Processes As needed.
