This course traces the rise and development of early civilizations in the Ancient Near East and around the Mediterranean Basin using archaeological, literary, & historiographical evidence from Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Levant, Greece and Rome, covering the period of time from c. 3500 BC – AD 500. Additional emphasis will be given to specific people groups who are also known through their mention in the Bible.
