GCBA 665MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM

This course is based on the fundamental premise that Information Systems (IS) support organizational personnel, regardless of functional area or organizational level. The aim is to teach all business majors how to use IS to master their jobs and help ensure the success of their organizations. This means not merely learning the latest concepts of IS but learning to apply those concepts to facilitate business processes. We, therefore, focus on the key components of information systems—people, software, hardware, data, communication technologies, and processes—and how they can be integrated and managed to create a competitive advantage. You’ll learn valuable theories and how they relate to what's happening today. You'll also learn to apply management concepts to understand threats posed by and opportunities offered through the effective use of information systems.3 credits
