SEMS 105Foundations for Student Success (3.0 CH) An immersive two-week program that provides students
with the tools and resources necessary to successfully jump start their first year at Thiel College. This course introduces students to the wealth of available resources designed to help support their academic, social, and emotional transition to college. Students will engage in college-level work while preparing for some of the challenges typically experienced during the first-year.
SEMS 110First-Year Seminar (3.0 CH) The first-year seminar at Thiel College is designed to help students
transition to college-level learning by exploring interdisciplinary themes through the lens of Journey, Exploration, and Connection. In this course, students develop critical thinking, communication, and information literacy skills while engaging in discussions, collaborative projects, and reflective activities. The course also emphasizes building meaningful connections with peers, faculty, and campus resources, laying a strong foundation for academic success and personal growth. Students are supported by both a faculty member and a peer mentor, who provide guidance, encouragement, and resources to enhance the learning experience.
SEMS 250World Cultures (3.0 CH) This seminar is to be taken during the student's second, third or fourth
semester. By the end of this seminar, students will have the resources to develop into mature, informed, critically thinking citizens by exploring similarities and differences between cultures. This seminar will be cross-listed with pre- approved courses which are discipline-specific. (P: SEMS 110)
