THEO 312ISSUES IN PHILOSOPHY & THEOLOGY
Either semester 3 hours A study of philosophical issues pertinent to religion at-large (existence of God; moral theory; theodicy; miracles) as well as those affirmations that are specifically pertinent to Christian theological affirmations (incarnation, Trinity, afterlife). Second semester 3 hours A study of theology as a distinct discipline of Christian thought. Includes analysis and discussion of the major doctrines that have constituted the history of Christian thought, specifically: cosmology, anthropology, hamartiology, Christology, pneumatology, and soteriology. Prerequisites: THEO 337.
Either semester 3 hours A theological study of doctrine relating to angelology and demonology. Included are consideration of the nature and work of angels, Satan, and demons with an examination of the implications for Christian life, belief, and ethics. Comparisons and contrasts are Course Descriptions – Undergraduate ― 2026-2027 made with classic depictions of the spirit world as well as with current cultural representations. Students will evaluate theological statements on these subjects for critical purposes as well as seek to articulate their own. Prerequisite: BIB 222 and BIB 224.
