1 Lecture Hours Description This is a course in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers. Students learn background information about heart disease and risk factors for cardiac arrest. One- and two-rescuer adult and pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are taught as well as foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO) management. Students receive certification from the American Heart Association. This course requires a per credit health career fee; check the tuition and fee schedule for the current rate. Learning Outcomes

3 Lecture Hours Description This course offers a comprehensive study of the professional language of medicine. Students develop proficiency in word construction, pronunciation, spelling, definition and the use of terminology across various medical science disciplines, hospital services and health-related professions. Emphasis is placed on recognizing and analyzing the components of medical terms such as prefixes, suffixes, combining vowels and roots. Through a focus on anatomy, pathology, surgical procedures, diagnostic procedures and symptoms, students gain a foundational understanding of medical terminology and its practical application in healthcare settings.
