Students examine the philosophy and application of the servant as leader in preparation for a hands-on, real-world service project which grows from understanding critical issues in the community. The concepts of leadership are explored through both theory and practice, including service to others. Through the study of great leaders as portrayed by writers and historians, students gain a deeper understanding of the impact of leadership strategies and practice essential skills for effective leadership. 3 Lecture Hours Description This course, suitable for non-science and science majors, is an exploration of climate change, its effects on natural areas and human society, and the many solutions that can help combat its effects. Students will understand the basic science of climate change and examine solutions from scientific and cultural perspectives. The course will include a variety of media and focus on critical thinking and problem solving. Students will examine local issues and design a solution to a local problem of their choice. Learning Outcomes Explain the basic mechanism of climate change. Analyze the effectiveness of various nature-based and cultural solutions. Assess the opportunities and barriers to the implementation of climate change solutions. Select a regional climate-related problem and design a solution.
