3 Lecture Hours Description This course is an introductory survey of the field of sociology with a primary goal for students to develop the sociological imagination or an understanding of the relationships between biography and history and self and society. Topics include history of the field, major theories/perspectives and use of social research to develop theory. Students also examine processes of socialization, deviance, social institutions, structures and change dynamics with an eye toward understanding the social world and our position within it. 3 Lecture Hours Description In this course, students analyze a variety of deviant behaviors using sociological, critical and cross-cultural perspectives. Deviance is any activity or action that attracts widespread social disapproval and may include criminal or non-criminal behaviors. 3 Lecture Hours Description This course provides theoretical and empirical tools to help students explore peace and social transformation in India and United States through the study of Nobel Laureates from both countries. Students examine approaches to peace and social change while exploring the cultural diversity between these two great democracies. The course combines conceptual frameworks and experiential activities to bring theory to practice. Students develop and implement service learning projects in both the countries inspired by the Nobel Laureates. Students undertake a short-term study abroad experience in India to gain first-hand knowledge of cultural dynamics and community service. Learning Outcomes

It examines social, economic, cultural and political issues around the production, distribution, preparation, consumption and symbolism of food at local, national and global levels. Students reflect on the ethics of food processes and policies and their own food choices. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will Examine social processes that shape how food is produced, prepared, and consumed.
