This course provides an opportunity to learn how to engage in preliminary research and creative inquiry projects which may then form the basis for a continuing research or inquiry-based activity. Students will be introduced to the process of designing and conducting independent research and inquiry projects by learning how to develop a novel and feasible research question or inquiry topic; locate, evaluate, and apply relevant resources to support the development of a research and inquiry project; and summarize research and inquiry findings in oral and written forms. Potential career opportunities and how research and inquiry skills relate to academic and professional plans will also be explored. This course must be accompanied by at least one-credit of 290, 390, 490, or equivalent course in the student’s discipline.
