An introduction to financial literacy emphasizing career exploration and planning. Students will research a potential career, analyze the job market, explore education and training requirements, and create a budget based on starting salaries and lifestyle expectations. They will learn to set financial goals, manage checking and savings accounts, make informed decisions about credit, practice smart consumer strategies, and understand the time value of money. The course includes basic instruction in taxes, insurance, and investments. Registration is limited to dual enrollment students. This course may not substitute for FIN288/FAM288 – Personal Finance.
