This course is the second in the School Counseling internship sequence. Across the internship sequence, school counselor trainees progressively perform the full range of roles and responsibilities of professional school counselors, as defined by the ASCA National Model, Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), and CACREP. Internship experiences are completed under the supervision of an approved site supervisor and a university supervisor. Students are required to participate in 1.5 hours of mandatory weekly synchronous group supervision throughout the internship. School Counseling degree students must complete a total of 600 fieldwork hours across the internship sequence, including at least 240 direct client contact hours. During this 14-week course: •Students completing two internships must complete a minimum of 300 hours, including at least 120 direct client contact hours. •Students completing three internships must complete a minimum of 210 hours, including at least 84 direct client contact hours. Certificate-only students must complete a total of 420 internship hours across two internship courses. During this 14-week course, certificate-only students must complete a minimum of 210 hours, including at least 84 direct client contact hours. Basic skills such as framing, composition, audio quality and website development will be covered in theory and with hands-on application. Students will host projects on their own websites. In this course, students will build upon the basic audio skills developed in prior courses to produce audience-targeted and technically competent podcasts. We will explore planning, recording, interviewing, editing, structure and storytelling along with technical concepts. Hosting, distribution and monetizing will also be covered. 3.00 Students will learn video production in both the studio and in the field, with a focus on framing, lighting, microphone placement, composition, audio for video, and more. We will also cover post-production, editing strategies and story-telling. This is a hands-on course. Opportunity to earn YouTube Certification. 3.00 In many ways, regulations of digital and social media have been outpaced by the rate of their innovation. Lawmakers and ethicists address compelling issues such as cyberbullying, privacy rights, mental health impacts and intellectual property as they arise. Explore regulation and ethics related to free expression, privacy, and data collection from the perspectives of media professionals, content creators, audiences and college students. Recent cases such as Facebook's privacy breaches, Instagram's negative impact on the mental health of teen girls are integrated into the course. Online behavior such as revenge, defamation and attempts at regulation through social media community rules and employer policies are addressed. 3.00 In this hands-on content creation course, students cover GMercyU events and issues with published video and audio content. Utilizing planning, interviewing, storytelling, production and post-production skills, students create a pre-professional portfolio of content.
