It includes a field trip to Broadway. 3.00 This course continues Music Appreciation I from the Baroque to Modern Times. 3.00 A continuation of Fundamentals of Music, this course emphasizes music composition and analysis of major works. 3.00 This course is a continuation of Class Guitar 1. It is required that you take this class prior to MUS 437. We will pick up where the previous class left off. Classes will consist of working out of the text book, learning student-chosen songs, and jamming with the teaching or other students. By the end of this semester the student will have increased their note reading capabilities, chord knowledge, improvisational abilities and potentially be proficient at barre chords. Pre-req: Class Guitar I 3.00 The course will be group instruction in fundamental piano technique designed for the beginner and/or intermediate musician. Students learn to read music, improvise chordal accompaniments, and develop technical proficiency through performance of elementary piano music. 3.00 Class Guitar I | This course offers students the opportunity to pursue study of musical topics, composers and forms chosen by the instructor. Course may be repeated if the topic changes. 3.00 This course permits in-depth study of a composer, period, genre or topic in music selected by the instructor. This three hour lab experience provides an introduction to the fundamentals of nursing practice. Students will utilize the nursing process as a framework to apply nursing knowledge, diagnoses, interventions, and outcomes to individuals. Course concepts are grounded in evidence-based practice to promote, maintain, and restore health. Topics related to safety, oxygenation, ventilation, circulation, perfusion, ingestion, digestion, absorption, elimination, urinary, movement, sensory input and the nurse patient relationship and the roles of the professional nurse are explored. Emphasis is placed on applying knowledge and practicing skills in the nursing skills lab, simulation lab, and clinical setting. This course is designed to develop health assessment skills across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on the development of skills essential for using health and physical examination as tools for nursing assessment. Normal and abnormal history and physical assessment findings are differentiated. Biological, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural dimensions of the individual are explored. Health promotion strategies including risk factor reduction as they relate to the adoption of healthy lifestyles are identified. Opportunities are provided to practice health assessment. 3.00 This course is designed to develop health assessment skills across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on the development of skills essential for using health and physical examination as tools for nursing assessment. Normal and abnormal history and physical assessment findings are differentiated. Biological, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural dimensions of the individual are explored. This course will serve as an introduction to calculating medication dosages for the professional nurse. It will include a review of essential mathematical concepts for fractions, ratio/proportions, percentages, medication abbreviations, measurements and conversions, reading medication labels, measuring amounts in syringes, and solving basic dosage calculations. 1.00

This integrated pathophysiology/pharmacology course provides a foundation for understanding disease process in conjunction with pharmacological therapy to treat and manage disease. Students will discuss cultural sensitivity, clinical reasoning, therapeutic nursing interventions and communication skills as they apply to clinical practice. Both general pathophysiologic/pharmacological principles will be explained as they apply to the macro concepts identified by the Gwynedd Mercy University Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing and Health Professions. 4.00 This course builds on prior nursing knowledge and experience to enhance comprehensive health assessment skills. Students refine interviewing techniques and physical examination skills while considering the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Emphasis is placed on applying principles of health promotion and illness prevention in the assessment of clients across the lifespan. 3.00 Concepts, theories and roles of leadership and management in professional nursing are examined. Development of the leadership abilities of the individual nurse in influencing the nursing profession and society are discussed. Communication, ethical reasoning, critical thinking, financial issues and cultural competence are included as they relate to leadership and management. 3.00 This course explores aging and the impact of aging on individuals, families and caregivers. Current theories of aging and the aging process are explored. The effects of health, political, social and economic issues on the lifestyles of the aging population will be discussed. The influence of heredity, environment, lifestyle and access to adequate healthcare in relation to the care of older adults will be examined. A variety of clinical settings are utilized to demonstrate nursing knowledge, skills, and interventions of best practices when caring for the older adult. 3.00 This course explores aging and the impact of aging on individuals, families and caregivers. Current theories of aging, the aging process, and the effects of political, social and economic issues on the lifestyles of the aging population will be examined. The influence of heredity, environment, lifestyle and access to adequate healthcare in relation to the care of older adults will be discussed. This course will provide a comprehensive and clinical relevant coverage of complementary and alternative medicine. It will cover the history, philosophy, and mechanisms of alternative therapies and includes a thorough review of the clinically controlled trials, indications, and contraindications of each therapy. 3.00 Selected health problems and related issues pertaining to women and children will be critically analyzed in relation to the impact on the individual, his/her family and the community. Cultural, spiritual, ethical and moral aspects will be discussed as they influence nursing care. The role of the nurse and community resources available to this population is explored. (can be taken as the nursing elective). 3.00 This course introduces the concepts and principles of genetics, genomics, and epidenomic and their relevance to health and nursing care. Genetic influences from conception and throughout the lifespan are considered from a nursing perspective. Ethical, legal, and socioeconomic issues associated with genetics are examined. 3.00 This course focuses on preparing the graduating nursing student for transition to professional nursing practice. Preparation is achieved through synthesis of acquired knowledge with emphasis on reflective practice and application of learning. An understanding of professional nursing standards, ethical problem solving, evidence- based practice and a commitment to lifelong learning will be provided. Health care policy and the socioeconomic, geopolitical, ethical and cultural variables that influence health are explored. Critical analysis of selected global and national problems is examined within the framework of professional nursing practice. The importance of cultural sensitivity and ethical judgment are emphasized. 2.00 The focus of this course is the critical analysis of the process of research. Types of research, steps of the research process, variables, frameworks and measurements are discussed. Problems related to clinical practice are identified and emphasis is placed on the nurse's role in improving patient care outcomes by being able to read, use and participate in the research process. 3.00 logy (3 This course introduces students to the role of informatics in professional nursing practice. Clinical Nurse Leader students will review key elements of management and leadership theory and roles and will examine strategies and processes that address professionalism; morale and governance; improvement of care delivery; facilitation of change; quality and safety; principles of patient- centered care; evidence-based practice; decision making and problem solving. Opportunities to apply knowledge to clinical case studies will be a major course focus. NCLEX Live Review will be incorporated into this course. 3.00 This course is a combination of didactic and clinical hours for role immersion and development and will fulfill the CNL Capstone and Integrating Experience requirement. It is an intensive clinical experience in an area selected by the student. This course examines ethical concepts foundational to advanced nursing practice. Application of a variety of decision making frameworks to address ethical dilemmas arising from complex care, use of technology, health care resources, health care policy, national and international health issues. 3.00 Develop the statistical skills necessary to critically evaluate advanced practice nursing research using qualitative and quantitative methods to identify appropriate techniques for interpretation of results of independent research, and for presentation of results to improve clinical practice.
