Fall/Spring This course will prepare pre-service teachers to utilize a variety of research-supported instructional techniques and classroom management strategies in the classroom. Students enrolled in the course will practice these techniques with their peers in the class, as well as in authentic classroom settings as part of the field experience for this course. This course also invites students to learn the strengths and weaknesses of a variety of teaching strategies, classroom management approaches, and curriculum stances then learn to integrate these understandings during instruction. Students develop and demonstrate the knowledge and skills gained during this course in a field-experience in which they use their new understandings to create classroom activities in authentic settings.

Fall/Spring Under the supervision of college and cooperating teacher staff, the student engages in planning, teaching, and evaluating classroom learning activities in a secondary setting. Focusing upon integration of all aspects of the practicum is an integral part of the course. Placement during the semester will be in a regular education setting within the candidate’s area of certification. An additional fee (subject to change) is required.
