Effective Date 08/01/2026 This course offers students opportunities to engage in intercultural dialogue through weekly online conversations with Japanese university students. Conducted in English or Japanese, students explore cultural, societal, and identity-related topics. In-class activities deepen these exchanges through guided reflection and discussion. Through collaborative learning and cross-cultural interaction, students develop communication skills, cultural awareness, and global understanding. In addition to familiarizing students with grammatical fundamentals of literary Japanese and their differences from the modern language, the course will introduce students to representative writing styles from a wide variety of genres and historical periods.
