This course provides students with an introduction to the various operating systems of a modern automobile and typical procedures in an automotive service shop environment including shop safety, proper tool and equipment usage in an automotive application, and the use of digital automotive service information. Students explore various types of fuel delivery, ignition, and emmision control systems currently being used by vehicle manufacturers to maximize engine performance. Students will utilize diagnostic test procedures to identify properly operating components while searching for faults. Students examine the basic theory of electricity. They will identify methods to locate and interpret wiring diagrams, and explore diagnostic methods and repair procedures for individual electrical circuits on vehicles. These circuits include lights, horn, electric windows, power seats, electric defrosters, and other electrical circuits installed on vehicles. AUTO 2500Advanced Vehicle Electrical Systems and Diagnostics4
This course is intended for students pursuing advanced education in the automotive or diesel industries and focuses on strategy based diagnostics and component design of electrical and electronic systems in modern vehicles. Students will explore technology found on both passenger vehicles as well as heavy-duty commercial vehicles including supplemental restraints (SRS), advanced driver assist systems (ADAS), body electronics, diagnostics, on-board computerized network communication systems, and an introduction to hybrid electric (HEV) and full electric vehicle (EV) propulsion systems.
Students explore automotive steering and suspension system designs, including tires, and identify methods to measure and diagnose those systems. Students will utilize OEM specifications to perform wheel alignments. This course covers both front and rear suspensions used on 2WD and 4WD vehicles and allows students to work towards completing the ASE task list A-4 in preparation for the exam.Course Fees: $55.00
