Students develop the knowledge and skills needed to recognize and manage both medical and trauma emergencies. The course includes an overview of human anatomy and physiology, hands-on practice with evidence-based emergency care techniques, and opportunities to apply critical thinking while assessing and treating a range of urgent conditions. Emphasis is placed on airway management, bleeding control, patient assessment, and other core EMT competencies. EMS 1510Emergency Medical Responder4

Students will develop the skills necessary to recognize and manage medical and trauma emergencies in an out-of-facility setting. Students will explore human anatomy and physiology, practice evidence-based techniques for emergency care, and apply critical thinking to assess and treat a variety of urgent conditions. Students will gain competence in airway management, bleeding control, patient assessment, and other essential EMR functions. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the Wyoming licensing exam and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) cognitive examination.

Students complete the final phase of the paramedic program by participating in required field internship hours at EMS and fire agencies throughout the region. Serving as the team leader, the student will apply clinical knowledge, perform patient assessments, and demonstrate competency in advanced prehospital skills. The student will also engage in review sessions, case studies, and patient care report analysis. Upon successful completion, the student will be prepared to function as an entry-level paramedic.Course Fees: $15.00
