EPID
7 courses with the subject EPID, each shown exactly as we captured it from the college's catalog, with every element we hold. Where the wording looks broken, that is our reading of the catalog, not the college's text.
EPID 8202Introduction to Data Management3
Introduces best practices in data manipulation and data analysis in epidemiological research. Students will learn practical skills in data management using statistical software packages such as SAS, SQL, Stata, R or others. Topics such as data storage, data security, data visualization, and data wrangling will also be covered. EPID 8272. Survival Analysis. (3) Prerequisite(s): HLTH 8270. Introduces core concepts and methods in survival analysis and modeling of time-to-event and censored data that are commonly used in epidemiologic research.
EPID 8273Multilevel and Longitudinal Data Analysis3
Prerequisite(s): HLTH 8270. Introduces statistical methods such as linear and logistic regression used for the analysis of multilevel and longitudinal data in epidemiologic research. Students will learn to contrast conventional statistical methods focusing on single time points from multilevel and longitudinal models. Topics also include random effects and growth curve models.
Prerequisite(s): HLTH 6211. Introduces students to advanced epidemiological principles to design, conduct, analyze, and interpret epidemiologic studies. Students will learn how to critically appraise published epidemiological research. Topics such as measures of association, confounding, bias, causal inference, directed acyclic graphs, effect modification, and missing data will be covered.
Prerequisite(s): Permission of instructor. Prepares students to systematically appraise evidence by synthesizing primary research studies on an epidemiologic topic of interest. Topics include: selecting an appropriate research question, relevant study designs, minimizing bias, data visualization techniques, and common problems in systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
EPID 8800Independent Study in Epidemiology (1 to 9)
Prerequisite(s): Full graduate standing in the Ph.D. in Epidemiology program or permission of instructor. This independent study course provides students with the opportunity to pursue self-directed research or projects on topics related to epidemiology, under the guidance of a faculty advisor.
