CHIN 1010First Year
Chinese I (4CR) (4L) [E] This course is intended for students who have never studied Chinese at the college level. Students will learn the fundamentals of the Chinese language through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities at the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) Novice Low Level. The course will also introduce students to the culture of various Chinese- speaking countries and areas. Language laboratory times are required as needed. Students who want to take for credit the next course in the sequence must complete this course with a grade of "C" or better.
