Management & Agricultural Leadership
As travelers seek authentic cultural experiences and producers look to diversify their income, agritourism is on the rise. This course explores how agriculture and tourism intersect to create unique, immersive experiences. Students will learn strategies to enhance farm-based tourism, increase revenue, and understand the benefits for producers, communities, and visitors alike. Max Credit: 3 Cross Listed: ORTM 1300
Remote Sensing, Certificate (Undergraduate) The undergraduate certificate in Remote Sensing provides opportunites for students to add training in how to use and interpret imagery acquired from aircraft, satellites, or ground- based platforms. The Remote Sensing certificate has one required 3-credit course plus electives for a total of 9 credits. This certificate can be added to any major using the Change of Major form available at the Registrar's Office Online Forms and Petitions site. Core Requirements
Problem Solving and Planning This course serves as an introduction to ranch and rangeland planning. Students will develop a basic ranch business plan that includes management of rangeland resources to meet livestock production requirements and operational constraints. Integrated problem solving will be introduced using case studies and guest lecturers. Max Credit: 3
Considerations for Ranch & Rangeland Mgmt This course looks at the influences of public policies, organizations, political structures, and processes of state and local governments on ranching in the west. Both state and federal policy will be examined and discussed in detail. A draft piece of legislation will be developed through a collaborative approach to problem solving. Max Credit: 3
Students will consider their opportunities, responsibilities, and commitments in the context of leadership effectiveness whether that be personally, or in organizational or community settings. Students will come to understand the concept of relational leadership and how it differs from traditional applications and theories of leadership and management. Max Credit: 3
