An introduction to conventional and non-conventional welding processes. This course is intended to provide the student with a basic understanding of the various welding processes, welding terminology, joints, symbols, welding defects, equipment. Topics covered include welding processes, heat and fluid flow, structure of metals, solidification phenomena, phase transformations, residual stresses, and nondestructive examination techniques. Real life examples will be used to illustrate the fundamental concepts of the course. The student will also be introduced to career opportunities in the welding field.
