Permission of instructor. Focuses on problems in the natural sciences in order to establish strong connections for students between the math skills they have already learned and the natural sciences in which they may be applied. This course is designed to increase student confidence, retention, and success in the sciences through an active introduction to the problem solving methods that are widely employed by scientists. Class time will be used to study problems involving the natural world and exploring the methods that are used to solve these problems.
Minimum overall 2.5 GPA, Artis College of Science and Technology major, and permission of instructor. Through observation and reflection students will gain a broader understanding of the professional requirements and daily activities of their chosen field. Students will work with a faculty member to determine an appropriate format for producing regular reflections on their observations.
Instructor permission. Designed for students to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to formally present scientific results to a multidisciplinary audience. Students will work with faculty mentors and peers to develop oral presentations of their own previously conducted research.
