Prerequisite
Instructor Approval. This course will include readings, discussions, and activities to prepare students for their RARE field experience. Students and faculty will meet to discuss relevant readings on topics of interest for that year’s RARE trip(s). Students will also prepare their research methodology and time line for the project they will be conducting on their RARE trip. Students will also be involved in activities to prepare them for the intensive environment found in this research experience.

Prerequisite
RARE 400 . This course will entail the RARE field experience. While on their RARE trip, the students will be conducting their original research or scholarship as well as aiding the other students and faculty on the RARE trip with their research where appropriate. Students are also expected to engage in discussion with the other students and faculty on the research process and other events that may happen during this field experience.

Prerequisite
RARE 410 . This course will be taken in the semester following the student’s RARE field experience and will serve as the capstone for their RARE experience. In this course, the student will continue with their data analysis, writing, and presenting of their research to the University community. Students will also help with recruitment of students for the program and other activities to help maintain the RARE program.
