var-1-3sh Special topics are offered on an experimental or temporary basis to explore topics that are not included in the established curriculum. A given topic may be offered under any special topic identity no more than three times. Special topics numbered 281 are offered primarily for lower-level undergraduate students.
var-1sh Students work toward the development of specific competencies that relate to individual major fields of teaching.
This course is designed to assist the student in achieving the competencies within the major necessary for performance in student teaching. Teaching skills will be developed through one-on-one tutoring and a field experience. Each student will work in collaboration with the instructor to develop a personal learning contract that provides a means for demonstrating those competencies identified by the instructor and student. 3c-0l-3sh Problems related to teaching students reading and study skills specifically needed in each of the subject areas at the elementary level. Content teachers learn how to develop students’ competence in these skills as part of their regular classroom instruction.
3c-0l-3sh Students will use a variety of computer software including word processing, record management programs, and simulation programs. Emphasis will be on the application of computer programs within the K-12 school curriculum.
