HONS 150The Good Person (3) Inter-disciplinary examination of human beings with focus on defining and
cultivating the good person. Attention will be given to the most pressing problems and solutions for the individual in contemporary culture. Only available to Honors College students. HONS 200 The Great Family (3) Inter-disciplinary examination of the family with focus on defining the term, its role in shaping the individual, and its influence on society at large. Attention will be given to the most pressing problems and solutions for families in contemporary culture. Only available to Honors College students. HONS 250 The Just Society (3) Inter-disciplinary examination of society with a focus on justice and duty in both private and civic life. Attention will be given to the most pressing problems and solutions in contemporary society. Only available to Honors College students. Prerequisite: HONS 200
HONS 300The Exceptional Country (3) Inter-disciplinary and comparative examination of the American
Republic with a focus on leadership, founding principles, pressing problems, and solutions. Only available to Honors College students. Prerequisite: HONS 200
HONS 350The Flourishing World (3) Inter-disciplinary and comparative examination of human flourishing with
a focus on competing legal, social, and economic world-systems. Attention will be given to the most pressing problems and solutions for the world today. Only available to Honors College students. Prerequisite: HONS 300. May be taken concurrently with HONS 300 with program permission. The Honors College offers an Undergraduate Minor in Classical Christian Education for selected applicants. This minor requires the following courses in addition to the Honors College academic core:
HONS 400History and Pedagogy of Classical Christian Education (3) Explores the history, philosophy, and
practice of Western education for the purpose of developing practical knowledge of Classical Christian pedagogy. Attention will be given to the Trivium, Quadrivium, virtue formation, and the Socratic Seminar. Prerequisite: HONS 300 and admittance to the Classical Christian Education certificate program.
HONS 450Classical Education Apprenticeship (3-6) Students complete a minimum ofin an
apprenticeship at an approved classical school or homeschooling coop. Students with accepted programs of study may receive up to 6 credit hours. Prerequisite: HONS 400. 65
