Survey of the literature and/or film from the Greater/Lesser Antilles. Students will not only contemplate historical developments throughout the Franco- phone, Anglophone, and Hispanophone countries but also be exposed to similarities/ differences between the various island cultures that contribute to a larger Caribbean collective. Fundamentals of writing for episodic television in its varied forms, including sitcoms, scripted reality programming, movies for television, and television commercials. Prerequisites: ENG 101-102, FLM 214, FLM 221, or permission of department chair.
By utilizing case studies that address many of the most common exigen- cies related to producing film, students learn how to approach each situa- tion head-on. Students will learn how to create budgets for films, select a crew, secure distribution, and many other tasks that comprise the duties of a film producer. Instruction and practice in the industry standards of editing. Students learn to use editing software and explore the importance of collaboration between director and editor in the filmmaking process. Prerequisites: ENG 101-102, FLM 214, FLM 221, or permission of department chair.
